My Story
Hello! My name is Julia. After many years of working for the federal and Washington state government, I decided to follow a lifelong passion and launch Emerald Brick Road in my hometown of Seattle.
For years, I turned to LEGO bricks to create scenes full of color, detail, and genuine joy. I used to celebrate milestones and accomplishments by purchasing a big set and saving it for a rainy day. Building brought me a reliable sense of calm, creativity, and accomplishment.
In December 2022, while recovering from COVID-19 and isolated at home (and bored out of my mind), I built my first MOC (My Own Creation). Using only the bricks I had on hand, I spent days designing marshes, waterfalls and other nature scenes. It was deeply satisfying, not only because I was learning new building techniques, but because it felt restorative. And without even realizing it, I had gone a week with minimal screen time, immersed in dynamic, hands-on play.
My vision is to create a studio and retail space where people of all ages can build, connect, and create. Whether through open play, themed workshops, or special events, Emerald Brick Road is designed to spark imagination, foster confidence, and create connection. For me, building with LEGO bricks has always been about more than the bricks themselves, it’s about slowing down, creating something from nothing, and sharing that joy with others.
When I’m not building with LEGO, you’ll likely find me hiking in the mountains or spending time with loved ones and my beloved flat-coated retriever.
I look forward to welcoming you at an event or in the studio and to hearing what ignites your creativity and joy.
